Unknown man run over and killed

Police: The investigation is being hampered by the fact that the victim's identity is not known to police.

The Randfontein Police are looking for the next of kin of a man who had died after being over by a vehicle recently.

The deceased has been described as an African man estimated to be 40 years old.

“It is alleged the police were called to a motor vehicle collision on Bhongweni Road towards Azaadville. The victim allegedly was lying in the road after he was knocked down by a motor vehicle. The victim was attended to by emergency services but he was declared dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was on the scene but did not sustain any serious injuries,” said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson.

Ernst added the investigation is being hampered by the fact that the victim’s identity is not known to police. The investigating officer is requesting assistance urgently in identifying the deceased.

The man did not have any identification on him. Any person who might be able to assist in the investigation can contact Constable Thomas Nkwe on 011 278 8100.
