Man nearly wrecks car after hitting a pothole

'The wheels I bought are not even a month old and now they are completely ruined.'

A Randfontein resident had to spend over R8 000 after hitting a pothole and says he has had it with the municipality.

“When will it end? This is a never ending battle with the Randfontein Local Municipality to fix the roads I pay my taxes every month not even a month ago I had to to put a set of brand new wheels and mags costing me R8 500 because the previous set I had on was damaged by potholes,” Clive Coetzer said.

You can’t even drive home properly, you have to swerve left and right and look like a drunk person because of all the potholes.”

He explains that he hit a big pothole on his way home with his new wheels and the mag completely broke. He said he nearly wrote off his car when the incident happened.

“I am just a normal person with a normal work. The wheels I bought are not even a month old and now they are completely ruined. There is not one road in Randfontein without humps and bumps.”

He adds when you want to claim for your tyres that it takes a long time, “When you want to claim it take almost a year to sort out. What do you do in the meantime? It is a disgrace.”
