Pupil dies after stabbing at school

The deceased was allegedly stabbed without any provocation.

A 17-year-old teenager was arrested for the stabbing and killing of a fellow pupil.

The incident occurred on Friday (23 October) and it happened in full view of other pupils.

“It is alleged the victim was sitting outside the school premises waiting for his transport when he was confronted by the suspect,” said Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police.

Witnesses claim two teenage boys approached the victim. One handed a knife to the other who then stabbed the victim allegedly without any provocation.

“The victim was rushed to a local clinic but was declared dead on arrival.”

Lefakane said the suspect was later tracked down and arrested.
