One killed after truck, car collide

The driver of the light motor vehicle was found dead when paramedics arrived on scene.

One person was left dead and another injured when a truck and light motor vehicle collided on the R501 heading into the direction of Carletonville.

The collision took place 20km out of Potchefstroom at approximately 5.30pm on Friday (23 October).

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found the driver of the light motor vehicle had sustained fatal injuries and paramedics declared the patient dead on scene,” said Pieter Rossouw, ER24 spokesperson.

Rossouw added the driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries and was transported by another service to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

The cause of the collision remains unknown. Local authorities were on scene for further investigation,” he said.
