Man stabbed to death in fight

Police: He confronted the man and a fight broke between the two.

A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death at a mine compound after he had been accused of wearing someone else’s clothes, Bekkersdal Police said.

“At approximately 9am on Thursday 22 October, two suspects were walking together when one of them saw the victim walking along the mine compound wearing clothes he suspected of being his.

“He confronted the man and a fight broke out between the two.

According to a witness, the suspects were seen pulling the victim by his arms. One of the suspects suddenly took out a knife and stabbed him.

“The victim fell to the floor while the two suspects ran away. Mine employees nearby chased the suspects where they were caught and the police were called to the scene.

“Both suspects were arrested and the victim later passed away from the knife injuries he sustained,” said Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 26 October.
