Start saving for the 2016 show

'Every year we hear children plead with their parents to go on more funfair rides.'

Randfontein Show organisers are bowled over by the positive response to their Show Savings Tin Campaign they launched in September.

“We have sold close to 200 tins already and everyone thinks it is such a novel idea.

Every year we hear children plead with their parents to go on more funfair rides at the show or to visit again the next day because there is always so much to see and do, but the standard answer is: ‘You can go on one or two rides for one day only because we don’t have money for more’.

“Next year instead of telling the kids the rides are expensive and you haven’t got money, why not get the kids to save some of their own pocket money towards rides and extra visits to the 2016 Randfontein Show. They can save their money in their very own Randfontein Show Savings Tin. Teaching children to save for what they want is the best way to get them to understand money and responsibility from a young age, and it will take some pressure off you come show time,” Marcelle Mans, show coordinator said.

This Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) initiative is not for the children only.

Why not get your own savings tin so that you can visit the show once or twice or even three times? There will be so much to do to celebrate the show’s 30th birthday from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 March. You will kick yourself if you don’t start putting your loose change into the savings tin.

A register of all Randfontein Show savings tins sold will be kept and three lucky winners’ names will be drawn randomly on Thursday 25 February 2016.

These are the prizes up for grabs:

• First prize – Show entrance tickets for a family of four for four days valued at R840.

• Second prize – Show entrance tickets for a family of four for two days (R440) and free Funfair rides to the value of R260. Total value of prize: R700.

• Third prize – Funfair rides to the value of R500.
