Miguel – The violin prodigy

Miguel plays the violin, piano and does drama.

Miguel Leitao, a Grade 10 pupil and music student at FJ Wells Music School has achieved outstanding results during this year’s NEA, Raca and Hoërskool Monument Music Eisteddfod.

Miguel has been training with Annalien du Plessis since the age of six and has been progressing remarkably ever since.

He loves playing the violin and was selected to play in the Simfonia Juventi Youth Orchestra for the second year in a row. At the NEA awards event on Friday 16 October he was awarded best Classical Music performer and best Speech and Drama participant in the Western Gauteng region.

He also was named overall best performer for the entire competition, which is a very prestigious title.

During this event Miguel was invited to perform his solo one-man show in which he acts, and plays the violin and piano. At the Raca prize-giving ceremony in September he was announced winner of the Music category and was recognised for his achieving 22 Diamond awards.

Music forms a big part of Miguel’s life and this is due to the guidance and mentoring he receives from Annalien. This young man has so much more to achieve and will continue to reach for the stars.
