Burglars caught red-handed

'One of the suspects inside the house looked at me through the bedroom window.'

Mapogo Security officers put their life on the line by responding to a house robbery in progress immediately. The incident took place in Tarentaal Street on Wednesday 21 October.

According to John Edward Jansen van Rensburg from Mapogo Security,

We received a panic signal at 2.22pm and rushed to the scene. I saw one of the suspects inside the house looking at me through the bedroom window.”

While Jansen van Rensburg was calling for backup he heard a noise and saw the suspects climbing through the roof. They jumped from the roof into the property at 13 Honeybird Street. Stephen Gerhardi, also from Mapogo, arrived as backup and saw the suspects coming around the corner. He confronted them and apprehended them after he had made them lie in the road face down.

The Randfontein Police later arrived and arrested the two suspects. Police also found a bag in which the suspects had started packing valuables suspected to be from the house. They had one gold watch in their possession.

Residents and the occupants of the house thanked Mapogo Security for their quick response and bravery.
