DA: Street name signs play an important role when it comes to road safety.
The DA has expressed their concern about street names vanishing in Randfontein.
Street name signs play an important role when it comes to road safety. They enable motorists to easily identify intersecting streets without them having to take their attention off the road for long periods of time which poses a risk to themselves and other road users,” Ellik De Lange, PR councillor for ward 5 said.
De Lange added it is of the utmost importance that the Randfontein Local Municipality investigates the disappearance of the town’s street name signs together with the Randfontein police to bring the guilty parties to book.
Residents are also called on to contact their ward councillors and the police if they have any more information regarding the disappearance of street signs.
According to De Lange, the DA has also submitted a petition to the municipality for the urgent replacement of the signs which have been stolen. De Lange said they will continue to put pressure on the petitions committee for action in this regard.
A DA-lead Randfontein municipality will ensure that the regular maintenance of all infrastructure in the area and the implementation of innovative programmes to improve service delivery to residents,” he said.
