A 30-year-old man has been arrested for setting alight his girlfriend’s RDP house Bekkersdal Police said.
According to Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Linkie Lefakane the incident took place at approximately 7.30pm on Monday 5 October.
“It is alleged that day the girlfriend was visiting a friend when her son came running informing her that her house is on fire.
She rushed there and with the help from the community they managed to extinguish the fire. Later the son told her he saw the boyfriend burning the house.
“Two days later, on Wednesday 7 October the suspect was arrested and has already appeared before the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on charges of arson.”
