Intruder regrets swinging by

The brave woman grabbed what was closest to her.

An intruder had to run for his life after he had targeted a woman in her house in the early hours of Tuesday morning (13 October).

It is believed the intruder gained access to the house by removing the burglar bars with a spanner.

The woman said when she saw the intruder he allegedly hit her over the head with the spanner. Refusing to be his victim she fought back and then grabbed whatever weapon she could get hold of – a Swingball set. She laid into him with it to the extent that he made a run for it and scaled the wall to escape.

Leonard Sebastian from the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) confirmed he responded to a call but on his arrival at the house the intruder already had fled and was nowhere to be found.

EPR Emergency Services also was on the scene and attended to the woman’s minor injuries. She is in a stable condition.

The Randfontein Police is yet to comment on the matter.
