Bye-bye black bags, hello wheelie bins!

Randgate and Randpoort residents, collect your bins ...

Randgate and Randpoort will be moving with the times as they, too, will have a mass wheelie-bin roll-out.

This is a programme the Randfontein Local Municipality is embarking on to modernise and standardise refuse removal in Randfontein. This means residents can say goodbye to unkempt-looking black bags and say hello to neat black bins.

The last areas that received wheelie bins were Eike Park, Helikon Park and Culemborg Park. These areas are in DA councillor Craig Harrison’s Ward 7.

This time around DA councillor Sina Erasmus’ Ward 4 will be given new bins.

The documentation needed on the day includes your Randfontein municipal rates and taxes account as well as an identity document (ID) or if the collection is for a different property owner, a copy of their ID. Residents R200 once-off for the bins, which the municipality subsidises by 50 per cent.

The municipality ensures the current refuse removal schedule will not change as a result of the new bins.

Roll-out details:

• Date: Saturday, 10 October

• Time: Between 9am and 4pm

• Venue 1: Randgate Community Centre, corner of Tudhope and Bailey Streets

• Venue 2: corner of Donne van der Westhuizen and Smuts Streets
