Massive petrol decrease – for some

Weakening of Rand against the USD reason for adjustment.

There is good news for motorists using 93 octane petrol filling up at the pumps from Wednesday 7 October as the petrol price is due to decrease.

It will however, be the only fuel deceasing as the rest of the fuels will be increasing from 4 cents to 53 cents per litre.

According to the Department of Energy, the main reason for the adjustment is the weakening of the Rand against the US Dollar.

Prices as of 7 October:

• 93 octane petrol – decrease by 2 cents per litre

• 95 octane petrol – increase by 4 cents per litre

• 0.05 per cent sulphur diesel – 53 cents per litre

• 0.005 per cent sulphur diesel – increase cents per litre

• SMNRP illuminating paraffin – increase by 50 cents per litre

• Wholesale illuminating paraffin – increase by 50 cents per litre

• Liquefied petroleum gas – increase by 11 cents per kg
