Six people were left injured after a taxi t-boned a light motor vehicle on the R501 just 8km outside of Carletonville on Sunday night.
“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene, they found both the taxi and light motor vehicle lying on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle has sustained a large amount of damage to the passenger side,”said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.
“On assessment, paramedics found that two patients from the light motor vehicle and four from the taxi had sustained injuries in the collision.
Both occupants from the light motor vehicle lay trapped with the passenger in a critical condition. Rescue services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free both occupants.
“Once freed, paramedics treated all the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support. Once treated, all the patients were transported to various hospitals for urgent treatment.”
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
