Litter a real eyesore

" I complain every year, but if one does not complain, then council assumes everything is fine " - Joy Hamann

Is litter in Randfontein getting out of hand?

That is the question on a number of residents’ lips after another litter hot-spot was uncovered on Lazar Road.

One member of the community who is unhappy about the situation is Joy Hamann and Publicity Officer of the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA).

She says, “Every day I have to drive past the Jabulani Informal Settlement in Lazar Road on my way to work and home again. The litter on the side of the road, being dumped there by Jabulani residents is so unsightly and just seems to be piling up more and more. It is such an eyesore and really an embarrassment to the town.”

She poses the question: Is there really nothing council can do to prevent this eyesore?

They moved the residents to that area, so surely they need to make better arrangements for the resident to dispose of their rubbish? I know this is an ongoing problem and yes, I complain every year, but if one does not complain, then council assumes everything is fine.”

Comment from the Randfontein Municipality is still awaited.
