They’re young, beautiful, smart, and driven with a burning desire to contribute to the landscape of our beautiful country filled with countless opportunities.
These are the 25 Miss South Africa 2016 semi-finalists. Of the 25 women, 12 will compete for the Miss South Africa 2016 title in March next year when the winner will be crowned by the reigning Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie.
The Top 25 will make their first public appearance – to show their support in the ongoing fight against breast cancer – at the Cell C Playing for Pink Ladies Invitational Polo, being held at the Inanda Club on Sunday 4 October.
The Miss South Africa 2016 semi-finalists are an impressive group. Among them are a geologist, several psychologists and law students and an international television presenter.
Sun International PR Manager, Claudia Henkel said she was “blown away” by the standard of these entrants.
“The pageant, which was given a new look and made more relevant to our modern society in the last few years, continues to attract young women who are smart, socially committed as well as beautiful. Sun International has long been the license holder of the Miss South Africa pageant and we are delighted with the caliber of the girls this year.”

The young hopefuls say they are rooting for the current Miss South Africa, LieslLaurie, who leaves to represent South Africa at the Miss World Pageant in December.
Cell C, who,in collaboration with Sun International, say that their association with the Miss South Africa pageant is aligned to their ongoing strategy to empower women.

The young woman who is crowned Miss South Africa 2016 will automatically become the spokesperson for the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day initiative.
The Miss South Africa pageant is the most prestigious pageant in South Africa, boasting a Miss Universe and three Miss Worlds’, and the women who have worn the crown are icons in many different spheres of life. These women are cherished in the hearts of many South Africans.
And that is the hope, and dream, of every one of the Top 25 semi-finalists: to have her portrait hung in that hall of fame.
