Man, friend attacked by Columbians group

Friend escapes leaving his friend helpless and bleeding – Police.

Three suspects who are believed to be part of the so-called Columbian group were arrested for allegedly assaulting and stabbing a man at a local tavern.

“It is alleged the victim was at a local tavern with a friend when one of the suspects approached him. The victim told this person to stop socialising with his brothers as he was a bad influence to them,” Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said.

The suspect was not happy and told the victim he would show him. He left and a few minutes later he returned with a group of his friends – the alleged Columbian group. They removed the victim from the tavern in full view of the other patrons.

“The friend soon followed and outside he saw his friend being attacked. As he tried to intervene he also was assaulted. He managed to flee, leaving his friend helpless and bleeding.”

The suspects with ages ranging from 19 to 26 will be charged with assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm.

They are expected to appear in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 October.
