Simunye Clinic opens their doors

'It is the sign of great things to come.'

The Simunye Clinic celebrated their first Open Day with the theme: Own your clinic this past Thursday.

In an effort to establish good relations with the community members the clinic celebrated their first open day since it was launched by the then Premier of Gauteng, Nomvula Mokonyane in 2012.

The aim of this event was to educate and inform the community members about various services provided at the clinic. Also to familiarise the community members with the clinic staff and educate them about different Non-Governmental Organisations working with the clinic.

The activities that were rendered on site during the event included:

• Various exhibitions from different health programmes and partners.
• TB screening
• HIV and AIDS, Counselling and Testing.

The event was also supported by Westonaria Municipality with the presence of Ward Councillor Esther Molatlhwa and other Municipality and Health Officials. In her speech Kerileng Lekoba Quality Assurance Manager, Mogale Health sub District, emphasized the fact that the community must learn to own their clinics, and protect them from being vandalised and keep reporting poor services by Health professionals, following the different methods provided in the clinic,” Sandile Gwayi, West Rand District Health spokesperson said.

On 18 September, Deputy Minister in the Presidency Buti Manamela carried out an unannounced visit to the clinic as part of his visit to Westonaria Municipality to celebrate National Arbor week.

We are happy the Deputy Minister chose to come to Simunye clinic a day after our open day, this really shows that we are blessed as community of Simunye. It is the sign of great things to come,” sister Nozipho Ndamane, Simunye Clinic Facility Manager said.
