BREAKING: Woman raped in veld
Both suspects arrested and will be charged with rape and robbery.
Bekkersdal Police arrested two suspects for rape after they were attacked by an angry mob in Waterworks near Westonaria.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police Station said, “It is alleged that the incident happen on 20 September at about 7.45 pm, where the victim was standing in the street with her boyfriend when they were approached by two men.
“They both started assaulting her boyfriend with sticks all over his body and he managed to flee leaving her behind.”
She also says,
They then grabbed her and took her to a nearby open field and took turns in raping her and also robbed her of her cellular phone. After the incident she reported the incident to the community leaders who traced the suspects and attacked them.”
The police then responded to a call of mob justice and manage to grab both suspects from an angry mob, saving them from being further attacked.
One suspect escaped with no injuries and the other one had minor injuries. Both suspects will be charged with rape and robbery. They appeared before the Westonaria court on 23 September.
