Crash seriously injures four including woman, child

Woman airlifted after being cut out of vehicle

Four people were reported injured by Netcare 911 after a Polo and Land Cruiser collided on Voortrekker Road in Krugersdorp.

The collision occurred yesterday around 1pm. The exact cause of the collision will be subject to police investigation, Chris Botha, spokesperson for Netcare 911 said.

Botha said Netcare 911 paramedics and their rescue unit together with the Krugersdorp fire department were on scene and on arrival they saw a the Land Cruiser had collided into the passengers side of the Polo.

A female was trapped in the wreckage following the collision. It was later found that the woman was critically injured. It is believed that she was in the vehicle with three other people including a child who were all seriously injured.

Botha says while the Netcare rescue unit and firemen were trying to free the trapped people, female medics climbed into the vehicle to stabalise the woman in critical condition.

She was freed and was airlifted with the Netcare 1 medical helicopter to a specialised facility. 

The seriously injured patients were treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further care.
