Police say the victim knew one of the suspects.

Two suspects were arrested and sentenced to a total of 17 years for tying up and robbing a 54-year-old man in his home.

The robbery took place in September last year when the two robbers tied up the man, ransacked his home and stole firearms, money and a motor vehicle.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson,

the victim knew one of the suspects.”

Mthunzi Mosiane, 26, and Kenneth Molau, 31, were apprehended two months after the robbery and were charged with aggravated robbery.

Both Mosiane and Molau were found guilty on the charge and were sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment each. Molau will serve only seven years as three years of his term were suspended.

Ettiene van Niekerk was presiding over the case and Vusi Mahlangu prosecuted on behalf of the state.
