Cellphone footage recently surfaced where it clearly shows a teacher assaulting a pupil at Randfontein Secondary School.
The incident took place last month.
This video was taken by a person who wants to stay anonymous for his own security. The cellphone footage shows the teacher pushing and slapping a grade nine pupil in full view of his classmates. The person that filmed this incident said
This happens on a regular basis.”
This incident also involves three other teenagers who were severely beaten. It is claimed that this horrific incident of corporal punishment is not the first at this school. The person that took the footage also states,
It is a daily occurrence. It is the way they deal with pupils that sometimes don’t agree with certain teachers.”
A parent of one of the pupils also said her child witnessed the whole incident.
The pupil told his mother, “The teacher hit him with fists and smacked him around and then the pulled him to the front of the class.”
Allegedly the boy and his three classmates, who tried to help him, were left bruised with torn school shirts.
The Herald tried contacting the Basic Education Department and the school principal, but both were unavailable for comment.
