Police make 118 arrests in a week

'This number of arrests should indicate that crime will only land you behind bars'

Randfontein’s heroes in blue made an impressive 118 arrests in just one week from 14 August to 21 August.

These arrests were made predominantly in cases of assault, theft, house breaking, and possession of stolen property. Various items which are presumed to be stolen were confiscated from the arrested suspects as well.

The other arrests were along the lines of drugs – drug peddling and possession.

Acting station commander of the Randfontein Police, Colonel Marius Smit holds the police officers who executed the 118 arrests in high esteem.

This number of arrests should be an indication to the criminals in the Randfontein area that crime will only land you behind bars,” Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police said.

Smit is determined to make Randfontein a safer place and assures the community of Randfontein that no stone will be left unturned in the fight against crime.

Any information regarding criminal activity can be communicated to me and it will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. We will investigate and take the necessary action needed according to the crime committed,” Smit said.
