R’fontein goes pink for Women’s Day

A local gym brought R’fontein’s women together for Women’s Day.

Randfontein’s main road was seen flooded with women in pink walking, running and cycling in a Women’s Day pink drive organised by Body Tech Gym.

The pink drive was a 5km race which women could run, walk or cycle. The start of the race was at the Recreational Hall in Mohlakeng and the finish line was at the Body Tech Gym in Randfontein’s Central Business District.

The race was held in celebration of National Women’s Day as well as to create an awareness for cancer. Both young and old participated and heaved and sweated to the finish line.

The Randfontein traffic police officers assisted participants in getting to the finish line safely.

In addition, members of a Soweto biking club did their part to keep motorists at bay while the race was being run.

Once the women crossed the finish line, they were treated to a healthy snack at the Body Tech Gym. The second session of the event took place later the afternoon at Cottage Lodge where the women who participated were treated to a buffet lunch as well as a motivational speaker.
