W’aria police go beyond the call of duty

‘More donations to come for the family’ – police.

The Westonaria heroes in blue took a keen interest in a case they were investigating. They subsequently collected food and clothing for a family who lost their loved ones in a fire.

The family is the Taylor family who recently lost three family members in a fire, which allegedly occurred due to an electrical short circuit in the flatlet where they lived.

Cecelia Taylor and her three children, as well as their extended family who lived in the main house on the property, survived the fire.

The Westonaria Police were on the scene the night the incident occurred and decided among themselves they would donate food and clothing to the survivors.

The food and clothing were handed over on Wednesday (5 August) and both police and Taylor had the opportunity to see each other in a new light. Taylor saw the softer side of the police and the police got to see Cecelia outside a crime scene.

The Westonaria Police donated three bags of clothes and two bags of non-perishable food. Sergeant Audrey Sefara from the Westonaria Police told Taylor to expect more donations.

Audrey also said the initiative also serves as one of the many projects the Westonaria Police will embark on for National Women’s Day.
