Famous actress gives youth hope

Desiré Gardner from Binnelanders brings hope.

Famous Binnelanders actress Desiré Gardner recently paid Randfontein a visit to share her amazing story with the youth and talk to them about hope.

The night of the event Randfontein was wrapped in darkness by load shedding but the NG Randpoot Church had a back-up generator in place.

Approximately six youth groups from Randfontein were invited to attend. Instead of the usual concerns about youth getting involved with alcohol abuse, an energy drink produced in Krugersdorp was on sale.

Cancer foundation, the African Survivor Foundation had a special music performance. One of their members performed a song written by the foundation.

Another young woman named Carla van Tonder also performed – she played her guitar to accompany the song she sang and wrote herself. The song, Carla said, is all about hope and she also joked about it being the first time she would be playing guitar in front of a large crowd.

After the performances by the other acts, it was time for the main attraction – Desiré.

Mad Entertainment organised for the esteemed actress to speak to the youth. She spoke about hope being problematic, especially in the 21st century with the presence of social media.

She emphasised that the youth should not put their hope in people but should rather put their hope in God. She also explained her experience with hope as a child.

She said when she was 12 years old she had a stroke and doctors said she would never be her normal self again. Today, she is fully recovered and making a name for herself on TV.

With her testimony she hopes to prove to Randfontein’s youth that there is always hope.
