A Toekomsrus baby was allegedly murdered following the mother receiving a death threat from the baby’s uncle directed at the 9-month-old.
The incident took place on Saturday (25 July) at approximately 8pm.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “The mother of the victim allegedly received a call her uncle is threatening to kill her baby girl. The 9-month-old baby was allegedly sleeping when the mother left the house earlier.”
When she arrived back home, the baby was lying in a pool of blood. Emergency Service personnel were call out and the victim was certified dead upon their arrival.”
The events surrounding the murder is subject to police investigation.
A man, 62, was arrested on the scene, Ernst said.
He will be appearing in the Randfontein Magistrates Court today, Monday 27 July.
