Troublemaker pleads guilty

He is not allowed at any pubs, hotels or restaurants.

A Randfontein resident pleaded guilty to ten charges against him in the Randfontein Magistrate Court on 20 July following an incident of vandalism at a well-known family restaurant in Randfontein.

The accused was in the process of applying for bail, but things took a turn for the worst when the charges against him were changed from level one to level five.

The charges initially were less than four, but at his last court appearance the charge sheet stated he had more than 12 charges against him.

Most of the charges pertain to incidents at various entertainment venues such as Droogeheuwel, Van’s and Cascades in Roodepoort. These charges include:

• Malicious damage to property (1 charge)

• Assault with attention to cause grievous bodily harm (3 charges)

• Intimidation (1 charge)

• Driving without a licence (1 charge)

• Assault (4 charges)

He was released on R5 000 bail with the following conditions:

• Full house arrest

• Not allowed to drive

• May exercise between 6pm and 5pm

• Must report to the court every two weeks and undergo tests

• Not allowed at any pubs, hotels or restaurants

• Work between 8am and 5pm

He will appear in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court again on 17 September.
