Four injured in graveyard collision

'It is understood the taxi driver had failed to notice the excavator'.

Four women were injured including a 7-month-old girl when a taxi collided with an excavator (used to dig graves) in the Khutsong Graveyard in Carletonville on Tuesday morning.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, “Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the four patients sitting next to their vehicle.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained minor injuries in the collision. Fortunately no-one had sustained any serious injuries.

“Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Carletonville Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

It is understood the taxi driver had failed to notice the excavator, while he was driving on the small dirt road.”

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
