Randmark’s Keneiloe close to victory

Athlete now aims to show her competitors how it is done in the next four events.

Keneiloe Sesing came close to victory on home turf during the Westonaria Cross Country league event hosted by Central Gauteng Athletics at the Westonaria Sports Complex recently.

Keneiloe, who recently represented South Africa at the World Cross Country Championships in China gave a good performance against arch rival Lorraine Mkhabela from Benoni High Athletics Club in the senior women’s 4km event.

Keneiloe, a former member of the star-studded Nedbank team who now runs for Randmark Running Club pushed hard to catch leader Lorraine but to no avail. She eventually had to be content with second spot in a time of 14 minutes and 22 seconds. She also completed the 10km race in a time of 36 minutes and 42 seconds.

We are looking forward to do two more Central Gauteng Athletics Cross Country events. The next ones are in Soweto on Saturday 18 July and on Saturday 1 August in Alberton. After Soweto, we will be heading to the Total Sports Ladies Race in Durban on Sunday 19 July and compete in the Total Sports Ladies Race in Joburg on 9 August,” said Motlatsi Sesing, Keneiloe’s husband and coach.
