UPDATE: Pregnant woman witnesses cigarette truck robbery

'I'm pregnant. The only thing I could think of is the safety of my baby' — Eyewitness.

A pregnant woman witnessed Tuesday morning’s cigarette truck robbery while trying to make a quick getaway after picking up her domestic worker at a café on the border of Wilbotsdal and Elandsvlei behind Laerskool Rapportryer (Rappies).

The woman who wishes to remain anonymous explained to the Herald how she went to pick up her domestic worker as she usually does when she noticed suspects pushing an pulling occupants out of cars. One of which was a local security company.

She said she saw two men with firearms.

I wasn’t sure if they were just roughing up the security company guys or if they were in the process of robbing the café. I didn’t even know a cigarette truck was involved,” she said.

She added that she immediately let the Randfontein Community Policing Forum (CPF) know when she realised what was going on.

I’m pregnant. The only thing I could think of is the safety of my baby. I drove off from where I picked up my domestic worker and took a detour then later I saw a white truck driving towards the direction of Randgate Spar.”
