Woman crawls out of crashed car

'Vehicle left the roadway and overturned several times'.

A woman sustained serious injuries during a rollover accident on Lazar Avenue in Randfontein on Friday.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann, “Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that a utility vehicle left the roadway, overturned several times and came to a standstill on its passenger side in a trench.

“The 36-year-old woman driver managed to crawl out of the vehicle and paramedics found her laying a couple of meters away from the vehicle in the trench.

“Upon assessment of the woman, paramedics found that she had sustained serious injuries and after skilfully placing her on a trauma board, the injured the woman was treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.”

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
