Kocksoord FC ready to play ball

Kocksoord Football Club gets kit and more from local cement company.

La Farge, a local cement company reached out to the Kocksoord Football Club recently by supplying them with uniforms and equipment.

The club was founded in 2013, originally aimed at elderly men (the masters).

“We started out as old timers playing together, and later we decided to get the youth involved to get them off the streets and away from drug abuse. For the old timers it is also a way to live more healthily,” Patrick Selogiloe, secretary and treasurer of the club said.

“While these things are nice to have, we are not doing this just for fun – we want to go big. It’s pointless always to play for fun and never get anywhere. We want to play tournaments and win, and see our players get recognised and move forward,” he said.

La Farge stated they want to be visible in the community and have a social responsibility to fulfill.

In addition to donating the equipment, they said they would interact with the club in future as they, too, have their own soccer club.

La Farge not only aims to donate once-off but also to follow up and make sure everything goes well.

“I would like to thank La Farge from the bottom of my heart,” Patrick added.

Equipment donated:

• Three sets of soccer uniforms

• Cones

• Ball

• Shin guards
