Armed robbers overpower tenants

A couple and unknown number of other tenants held at gunpoint.

A couple as well as an unknown number of other tenants of a house in Homelake became the latest victims of a house robbery over the weekend.

According to Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “It is alleged on Sunday evening (21 June) a 35-year-old man and his girlfriend were in their room in the house, which they share with other tenants. Their room’s door was forced open and an armed man entered.

“The man was carrying a firearm and held the terrified couple at gunpoint.

“The armed robber ransacked the victims’ room and took valuables. The couple then was forced to another room in the house, where they found three other suspects holding the rest of the tenants at gunpoint.”

The suspects then took numerous items from the tenants and left. It is believed the suspects left in a motor vehicle.

Any person with information regarding this house robbery is requested to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker on 011 278 8100.
