Rugby players need your help to go to Mauritius

Community support can give these players wings.

Nine pupils from Hoërskool Riebeeckrand was selected to play rugby for the Afrikaner Volkseie Sport (AVS) Gauteng teams.

The rugby players will be going to Kroonstad from 6 to 10 July for a training tour.

At the tour they will be coached to perfect their skills that provincial rugby requires. Their dedication to rugby and to fellow teammates have been rewarded with this opportunity that can not be missed.

The biggest prize is that two players from each province will be nominated to go to Mauritius at the end of this year.

To make their dream come true the team’s players along with their parents have started a committee to raise funds. Each player needs to raise an amount of R4 500.

For the next two Saturdays they will be selling boerewors rolls at R20 each in front at the Greenhills circle. A raffle is also being sold to stand a chance of winning a hamper from two local businesses. Then on 20 June the committee will be hosting a Coolerbox sokkie at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand.

It’s said the team’s have thus far worked very hard to collect memorabilia and collector’s items for the rugby fans and will be auctioning it off at the Coolerbox event. A local singer will also make an appearance to keep those in attendance entertained.

The players are asking the community to attend and support them to fulfil their rugby aspirations.

Tickets for the Coolerbox sokkie will be sold at the door on 20 June at 5.30pm.
