'He was supposed to be home at 2pm' — teen's mother.

A teen, 16, had to be rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on his way to a friend on Wednesday.

The incident took place on the corner of Lazaar and Malan Streets at the intersection. It is believed that the teen was walking across the road when he was suddenly knocked down.

A state EMS response car was dispatched to the scene and they kept the teen stable until an ambulance arrived. Netcare 911 made it to the scene, treated and transported the teen.

According to Sarah Lombard, the teen’s mother, “He was on his way to a friend to hang out. He was supposed to be home at 2pm.”

The boy was completely lucid on scene. Provincial EMS stabalised him and Netcare 911 transported him to the nearest hospital.

The teen was previously a pupil of Pro Practicum Special Needs School.
