Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 42-year-old security guard was shot while on duty one Saturday morning.
Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst confirmed, ” The incident took place early in the morning on Saturday 2 May.
“It is alleged the guard and a colleague are responsible for patrolling a complex in the area. The two men were patrolling when they came across three unknown suspects in the complex.
“One suspect allegedly produced a firearm and without any warning started shooting at the guards. The victim was shot in the lower abdomen and was rushed to hospital. The suspects allegedly fled the scene.”
Warrant Officer Bongani Mpete is investigating the attempted murder and he would appreciate any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects.
