Young couple hijacked and left in Soweto

The couple was forced to the back seat of their vehicle at gunpoint.

A young couple fell prey to a horrific hijacking when two armed suspects drove off with them to Soweto on Sunday night 3 May.

Randfontein Police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst confirmed the incident.

“It is alleged that a 28-year-old man and his girlfriend were sitting in their vehicle when two unknown men approached them. The two were armed.

“The couple was forced to the back seat at gunpoint. Then the suspects drove towards Soweto with them in the vehicle. They eventually dropped off their victims in an open space in the area. Fortunately the victims did not sustain any injuries during the incident.”

Police is still searching for the black Mazda belonging to the victims.

Warrant Officer SS Tjano at VISS in Protea Glen is investigating the case. He can be contacted on 011 213 9000 with any information regarding the incident.
