Think twice before you build, warns municipality

National building regulations explained - what you can and cannot build.

The Randfontein Local Municipality would like to inform people about the processes regarding the national building regulations.

The National Building Regulations states that no building work or erection of structures may take place without the local authority’s (Randfontein Local Municipality) approval says Lucky Chiya, spokesperson for the Randfontein Local Municipality.

What needs approval according to Randfontein Local Municipality:

Cannot be erected in residential areas:

Cannot be erected on municipal grounds:

If the public is in doubt whether they should or should not submit a plan or have any other enquiries concerning the erection of any structure, they should contact the Directorate Development Planning, Building Control Unit on the following telephone numbers 011 411 0353, 011 411 0453 or 011 411 0000 during office hours.
