The Randfontein Local Municipality would like to inform people about the processes regarding the national building regulations.
The National Building Regulations states that no building work or erection of structures may take place without the local authority’s (Randfontein Local Municipality) approval says Lucky Chiya, spokesperson for the Randfontein Local Municipality.
What needs approval according to Randfontein Local Municipality:
- Pools
- Carports
- Lapas
- Wooden structures (Wendy houses of a certain size)
- Boundary walls
- Facades
- Thatched additions to existing structures
- Advertising boards.
- Bird Cages
- Animal shelters
Cannot be erected in residential areas:
- Zinc dwellings and wooden dwellings are habitable structures which are not allowed to be used in residential areas according to the Randfontein Local Municipality.
Cannot be erected on municipal grounds:
- No building work
- No advertising signs
