Beware: Dirt road a danger

Owner fears one of his customers will get knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

A dangerous and dusty slip road running past The Legend in Culemborg Park has the restaurant’s owner frustrated and concerned.

The slip road, which is a stretch of dirt road formed as a result of cars frequently passing by.

Pieter Engelbrecht, owner of The Legend said he is furious about the current situation.

According to him the dust makes the children’s play area, which is only metres away from the slip road unpleasant and people cannot sit in the outside area and enjoy their meal because dust might fall on the food.

Engelbrecht so desperately wishes people would refrain from using the road illegally that he created a few speed bumps on it.

The vehicles that make use of the dirt road are not only light-motor vehicles but trucks as well.

According to Engelbrecht, municipal garbage trucks frequently make use of the dirt road.

“The worst is cars and trucks speed past the entrance of the restaurant on this dirt road,” Engelbrecht said.

According to him motorists need to drive slower as he fears one of his customers will get knocked down by a speeding vehicle.

The municipality has been approached for comment and a way forward regarding the issue.
