Four children injured in crash

Two boys and two girls injured as heavy goods truck and two other vehicles collide.

Four children were injured following an accident on Rustenburg Road near the Krugersdorp Nature Reserve on the West Rand on Wednesday.

According to Santi Steinmann, Netcare 911 spokesperson “Paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that a heavy goods truck and two motor vehicles were involved in the accident.

“Reports from the scene indicate that one motor vehicle crashed against the side of the other motor vehicle resulting in one of the vehicles then coming to a standstill against the heavy goods truck.

“Upon assessment of all the occupants from all three vehicles, paramedics found that two boys and two girls travelling in one of the vehicles were injured during the crash. A boy was found to have sustained serious injuries while the other boy and two girls sustained minor to moderate injuries. The drivers from all three vehicles were not injured during the accident.

“The four children were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care. Traffic was severely affected as a result of the crash.”

Exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
