RPA winter charity drive warming up

Do you want to give needy families and organisations in Randfontein a hand?

The Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) once again is hosting a winter charity drive and Knit-A-Thon and asks members of the public to donate blankets and tinned/ non-perishable foods.

According to Marcelle Mans, RPA managing director, “These items can be dropped off at the RPA office at the Greenhills Sport Stadium in Homestead Avenue up until the first week in June. Cash donations also are welcome and will be used to buy food and blankets.

“The Knit-A-Thon forms part of our winter charity drive and anyone interested in participating can start knitting woollen squares – 30cm by 30cm – for blankets. Completed squares also can be dropped off at the RPA office or if necessary, it can be collected.”

The Knit-A-Thon will culminate on Wednesday 3 June at the Randfontein Rugby Club from 8am to 4pm and members of the public, old age homes and RPA members will be invited to assist in sewing all the woollen squares together to make blankets. Refreshments will be served. There also will be lucky draws throughout the day.

“Distribution of all donated goods will start from 8 June and will be given to various needy families, individuals and organisations in Randfontein, Toekomsrus and Mohlakeng,” Marcelle added.
