Short storm, huge damage

Gravity takes upper hand in agile storm.

A tree inside the yard of the Kocksoord post office tumbled to the ground during a flash storm which hit the area on Friday.

The storm was accompanied by strong wind which caught the top branches of the tree and blew it to the ground.  The tree damaged the Post office’s palisade fence and almost hit two bystanders who were using it as a shelter from the rain. They were not injured.

As a result of the storm, streets were flooded and houses in the area experienced power failures.

The local municipality was contacted, but the tree had not been removed since.
