Ballade vir ‘n Enkeling close second at box office

'Quentin Krog surely took Afrikaans films to a new level'.

The South African film Ballade vir ’n Enkeling secured a second place at the box office in its opening weekend.
Ster -Kinekor Entertainment, the distributor for the film, is very happy with the excellent performance over the opening weekend.
“We believe that the success at the box office will increase during the school holidays that are around the corner. Feedback from the public is overwhelmingly positive,” Pieter Geldenhuys, Executive Marketing Manager of Ster-Kinekor Entertainment said.
The team behind the film is very thankful for the support of South Africans, especially for the first 27 500 people who went to see the film over the opening weekend. These cinema-goers contributed directly to the opening weekend figure of R1 358 075.
Writer Leon van Nierop’s reaction after he heard about the opening weekend figure was “I am very pleased that the story still talks to South Africans and that they are so extremely positive about it. Quentin Krog surely took Afrikaans films to a new level.”
