According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police, “It is alleged that on Tuesday 24 February the victim was attacked by her boyfriend. The police attended the scene and a case of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm was opened. The suspect allegedly fled the scene.”

Ernst explained “The victim was rushed to a local hospital following the incident. She was treated for numerous stab wounds in the upper body and later succumbed to her injuries a week later (Wednesday 4 March).
