Top Gear Live comes to Joburg

Tickets will be on sale from 20 March.

In the words of the legendary Jeremy Clarkson “We are back!”

It’s been four years since the motoring extravaganza last performed in Gauteng and organisers are delighted to announce the event will be returning to the Coca Cola Dome at Northgate.

Fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, Top Gear Live brings to life the massively popular BBC Entertainment TV programme. Featuring breathtaking stunts, some of the world’s most incredible cars and the usual calamitous mucking about, the Top Gear Live show has become a global phenomenon. Johannesburg was the first city in which the live show was staged outside of the UK in 2008.

Following the huge success of these shows this new approach to motoring theatre went on to travel the world. To date Top Gear Live events have entertained over two million fans in 25 countries.

James Cooke, COO of Top Gear Live said, “South Africa always has been one of our favourite destinations on the tour, because they were the first fans outside the UK to welcome our Top Gear Live show so enthusiastically. They return year after year to support us and remain some of the most enthusiastic, not to mention the loudest fans we experience worldwide. We’re delighted to be able to bring Top Gear Live back to the dome and have been overwhelmed by the support from previous partners, sponsors and ticket holders alike who also have welcomed the news.”

The action-packed 90-minute arena show will include exclusive, never before seen sequences as well as some firm fan favourites from their last 10 years of international touring.

Fans can expect to see lots of fire, tyre smoke, some ridiculous stunts and a healthy dose of competitive spirit between Jeremy, Richard and James. The event has attracted over half a million dedicated fans in its eight-year history of shows in South Africa, ranging from car crazy petrol heads to families enjoying a fantastic day out. As the most entertaining motoring event in South Africa, it never fails to rouse the enthusiasm of individuals from across the country and further afield.

This year, the Top Gear Live event promises to thrill with an all-new format. Guests attending the show will be treated to fantastic features, interactive experiences and a huge variety of brands showcasing their wares. This combined with a soon to be announced international motoring guest who will be joining in the festivities makes it the only place to be on the weekend of 12 to 14 June. Tickets will be on sale from 20 March.
