A 41-year-old man was killed during an alleged street fight in Station Street over the weekend local police said.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, spokesperson for the Randfontein police, “It has been alleged that the victim and a friend rushed to the assistance of a person being assaulted while returning from a tavern on Saturday.
“They allegedly tried to stop the fight but the man trying to help the assault victim was fatally injured when he tried to intervene.”
The person who the victim and friend tried to assist was rushed to a local hospital but the good Samaritan himself died on the scene as a result of being injured.
