Alleged rapist caught pants down

Westonaria police prevent a rape and arrest suspect.

Westonaria police took no nonsense at a crime scene when they arrested an alleged rapist with his pants down.

According to Sergeant AT Sefara from the Westonaria Police, the incident occurred on Friday 27 February at approximately 11.15pm. Three women allegedly were walking along a street and were followed by three men.

The men then grabbed them from behind and began searching them, demanding their cellphones and money. The victims told police the suspects were armed with a knife and a panga – one of them wore a balaclava.

One of the men then tried to stab one of the women as he thought she was reluctant to give him her phone. Shortly after she handed him her phone. The man armed with a panga proceeded to drag her to the side of the road while the two other women took the opportunity to escape.

The woman’s pants were unzipped and she allegedly was thrown to the ground and her sneakers were taken by one of the men. The suspect with the balaclava was about to rape her when a police vehicle arrived and apprehended the suspect and seized the panga. The other two suspects escaped.

Westonaria police commend the good work of the police patrols and their visibility as well the successful arrest of the suspect.
