Police make 208 arrests in one week

‘We will continue with our efforts to rid the streets of the criminal element’ – Police.

It was yet another successful week for Randfontein police who arrested a whopping 208 suspects for both serious and non-serious crimes.

At least 76 suspects were arrested for numerous serious crimes such as house breaking, theft, possession of stolen property, and assault.  Drugs were confiscated and stolen property worth thousands of Rands was also recovered during this time.

In addition to this, 132 people were arrested for less serious crimes such as crossing the railway line as well as liquor-related offences.

Colonel Marius Smit, Acting Station Commander for Randfontein Police was most pleased with members who played a part in these arrests and bringing suspects to book.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Spokesperson for the Randfontein Police, “We will continue with our efforts to rid the streets of the criminal element.”
