Police in the dark about foreigner beaten to death

'Officers are currently investigating the allegations.'

Local police had little to say about a foreign national allegedly beaten to death on the night of Valentine’s Day.

The neighbour of the deceased who witnessed the incident claims, “The deceased was drinking with a man. After they left for the deceased’s house a fight broke out in the road. The man he was drinking with then hit him with some object.”

The herald‘s source was later informed his neighbour had passed away in hospital.

According to Randfontein police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “The deceased cannot be traced. The EMS was contacted but no feedback was received.

“The incident only came to the police’s attention when the herald made enquiries.

“Officers are currently investigating the allegations.”
